Portland and San Antonia

Portland sends H.Whiteside 27m plus, K.Bazemore 24m plus and Labassire 2m plus to San Antonia for LMA AND DeRozan.

A plus 9 wins for Portland. Starting 5.....
PF LMA, C Gasol, Sf Little, Sg McCollum Pg Millard equals TTITLE TOWN

Almost forgot second unit , PF Toliver, C Collins SF HOOD, Sg DeRozen Pg Simmonons, bench Henzonja Sf, Hoard F, Nurkic C, Trent St. Pretty tough.

Why does San Antonio not hang up the phone laughing at this request?

Little is starting over Derozan? 40 year old Pau is starting over Collins?

And yeah, not enough coming from Portland. I think a Whiteside and a first for Aldridge swap is much more likely. I don’t love the fit of Derozan, or the cost to get him.

Spurs sre going to say add Little AND Collins AT A MINIMUM.

I had a similar trade posted a few days ago:

LMA and Derozan

for

Whiteside, Bazemore, Labissiere, and 2020 (np), 2022 (np), and 2024 (lotto protected) 1st rd picks.

Again Scoops, Spurs will want Little and Collins added at a minimum.

I'm not generally one to turn away a star level player, but I don't see why Portland would want Derozan. He can't stretch the floor, and he's not much of a defender (especially moving him up to SF) . Also, I think Portland could get Aldridge without giving up any of their youth. Toss Derozan in and SA would want two of them as Fredman has said.

I think Portland is better short and long term with Aldridge, Collins, Bazemore and Little than Aldridge and Derozan.

Derozen = evan turner with a midrange jumper.

That might be more true that people think. Man, if Turner was a 40% three point shooter he’d be a darn good player. Same with Derozan, he’d go from occasional all star to borderline superstar.

Other than the fact they can't shoot threes, I don't see a ton of similarity in DeRozan and Turner. DeRozan is a scorer. He does it slashing and in the mid-range. Turner is best as a distributor. He also does his damage inside the arc, but where DeRozan is looking to score, Turner is taking advantage of whatever comes to him. He's more of a backup PG type player whereas DeRozan really is a SG.

Turner has a solid post up game, and a nice mid range set of moves. If he had the shot that Derozan had, he'd be able to score the way he does in the midrange. He just doesn't have the shot to make those moves worth anything.

So Fredman, you say the Spurs will want Collins and Little in addition to Whiteside, Bazemore, Labissiere and 3 picks, just to add Derozan to a trade with LMA.

But then you call Derozan, "Evan Turner with a midrange jumper. " The same Evan Turner that the Blazers traded for Bazemore straight up. So adding three picks somehow isn't enough to add a midrange jumper?

Your math isn't checking out, pal.
