Why would New Orleans do that?

List teams with max rookie cap space that would off Ingram a max deal.

My point? NO is going to be able to retain Ingram on a less than max deal which would bw great for them.

Less than max for an allstar? Doubt it. I don’t agree with this trade but Wiggins and Edwards would be an upgrade.

If Ingram signs for less than max, it’ll be for 3 years at the most. If NO wants to retain Ingram long term, they’d probably be stupid to not give him a max amount and length contract. Heck, he might be able to get a 1 and 1 deal from someone at a decent salary. Even if NO matched that, it would be a bad long term contract for the team (and great for Ingram) .

I wouldn't give the #1 pick for Ingram. He's really good, but his ceiling appears to be lower.

Ingram has improved every year, was an allstar in his 4th year and is a 6’10 guy with guard skills. He has tons of upside. You’d be extremely lucky to get anything close to that in this years draft. The top of the draft this year is a bunch of guys that have huge holes in their game. Edwards was super inefficient and doesn’t pass well. Ball can’t shoot and struggles to defend. Wiseman is a rim runner without much skill. Hayes isn’t a high end athlete and can’t use his off hand.

How is the 1st pick in this less than stellar draft going to have a higher ceiling than Ingram? Edwards is the consensus based on every top pick being flawed in some manner.

Taking back Wiggins deal is not pretty either.

Because Ingram doesn’t have flaws in his game? He’s not Lebron.

Miller, he has flaws, but he doesn’t have gaping holes. He’s a solid defender that can rebound, shoot, pass, and finish.
