I will write two trades they are related but has to be seperated deals.

first trade

minnesota: cash considerations (they have to take something)

gsw: james johnson, 2020 first round pick from nets (17. right now)

wolves have 96 million salary before signing their first round picks, beasley and hernangomez. when they sign those 4 player their salary will be over 130 million and 15 player roster. if salary cap drop (it will drop) they are tax payer team. teams won't make much money next year especially small market teams. with this trade they dump salary and get relief. it takes a first round pick to dumb that much salary.

gsw use trade exception from iguodala trade and get a first round pick they can use. their salary will be very high but they are very rich. and they will use johnson contract for another trade.

second trade

gsw: myles turner

pacers: james johnson, 2020 gsw first round pick.

Turner is not getting the Pacers the #1 pick. PERIOD.

Why is Minny salary dumping an expiring contract? They need picks to build around DLo, KAT and the #3 pick.

Why is Minny being at $130 mil salary a bad thing (gotta salary dump johnson), but GSW being at $170 mil (with a much higher luxury tax multiplier) is just fine?

Everything Fred said. But to reiterate: holy crap Turner is not worth the #1 pick.

gsw doesn't own the first pick yet. they can get no:5 pick.

We know asdenam. But it’s projected #1.

Even 2-5 is worth way more than Turner.

Asdenam actually, their pick could fall as low as 6th.

As an Indiana fan, let me say no the the number whatever pick! You guys act like there is some generational pick in this years draft. Indiana already traded out of this years draft, we don't want anyone who is projected to go #1-5. Easy no from Indiana.

Every draft has an all star in the top 5. Every single one. That pick has a 25% chance (at worst) to be an all star. #1 is closer to 50% odds.

Turner is an ok player, but it’s not like he’s a top 10 center in the NBA. He defines average. Heck, his PER is 14.9 (15 is always exactly league average) .

If you give me the option of a league average starter at a place of need or a 25% shot at an all star, I roll the dice every single time.

Top 5 picks always have tremendous value, and for a reason. The #1 pick this year might have the value of a normal 3-5 pick due to the “weak draft”. That’s still a lot.

Helsbyte, its not like Turner is a "generational player" either. But if its up to me, I would rather take a chance that Wiseman can be Olajuwon-like than have the "above mediocre" Turner.

Turner was on the verge of losing his starting job to Sabonis.

You are forgeting that gsw take a pick from the first trade.

Who cares about the first trade? Because they get ok value in one trade it’s ok to totally screw them in another?

Then please tell me who the pacers would take with GS top 5 pick? Not one of them can do what Turner brings to the table. RIM PROTECTORS WHO CAN SHOOT 3's are more scarce than 3 and D wings.

Every fan seems to want Turner on their team and expects Indiana to take parts for him. Golden State would say yes if they thought he was the missing piece for a title. GS is in win now mode.
