Simmons is not worth all those picks…at all! He’s good, but not 4 first rounders and 2 pick swaps (from Boston’s perspective) . That would be idiotic for the Celtics. If the Ben Simmons experiment explodes, the team will be doomed for at least one decade.

Boston trades for a superstar (Simmons 25) without giving up Tatum (23) and Brown (25), that all just enter their prime. J Brown and Simmons wil be 32 and Tatum 30 in 2028, So Boston has three stars in their prime during that period, that's not a big risk having no picks in that period.

The Nets (Harden) and the clippers (PG13) gave up future picks for a star that's already in his prime 31 and 30 years old. that's a risk.
Boston still has three all stars they can trade if this doesn't work.

And ok, that fourth pick (2028) and those swaps are an overpay, but Boston has to do something, to convince the Nets and Philly to involve a competitor in the trade.

And does Boston want to be a play off team or a championship team? Simmons is an unique chance to get a third star. What star do you think you can get for that package?

Nets are in win-now. They don't need picks + they don't need BOS in this trade: they take Simmons + Maxey+ 1rnd pick Philly 2023 by themselfs.

i could see boston doing something stupid like this.

I think Durant prefere Horford and Smart over Simmons
And the Nets could use thos picks to trade for another star next year.

Boston does need to do something, but this is way too much of an overpay, plus Simmons hasn't played all year and isn't a superstar, he has no offensive game so how can he be a superstar?

2 1sts is an overpay, 4 1sts and 2 swaps is just idiotic.

Boston does not have to do anything major, but any substantial move wouldn't come until after the season.

Any deal the Celtics make at the deadline will probably just be minor deals, trying to cut salary to get under the luxury tax. IMO

However there are rumors that Minny is making a major run at Smart. So we'll see.

the celtics are not doing anything at the trade deadline other than shed salary to get the 15mm. that's what happens when you go 0-6 on your last six draft picks and decide to try marcus smart. who was a two guard his entire career. at the one. this is the antwoine walker/ pual pierce celtics all over again.
