You don’t pay an interior defender 40+ mil for 3/ 4 more years

Green is just as good as a defender, with more versatility and makes 25mil

Gobert is a great presence at the rim and interior but in today’s game I would much rather have some others players who bring great versatility defense and be half or 2/ 3 of his price. We see every year in the playoffs what’s happens when he has to guard the perimeter.

Gobert is the best interior* defender. As an overall defender I say Giannis Bam and Green. And they all also brings something on the offensive end as well.

In a hypothetical where Draymond was a FA, I’d bet it would take a max deal to pry him away from GS. And if he got traded, he wouldn’t be giving discounts to his new team.

Draymond is a really bad comparison to Gobert.

I think this is fine value for Gobert. And I think Charlotte is really wanting a traditional big. I could see this happening. Though it does leave Utah in weird situation, because they wouldn’t really have any great assets to get a second star, and no one is signing in Utah.

No way you think Green is worth the max too lol especially at 32? That’s exactly how you get one of the worst contracts in the league.

And yes it’s a good comparison. Green and Gobert are 2 of the best defensive players in the past decade (with Green being the better one being able to guard 1-5 and not being a liability on the wing)

I’m not comparable play style, they’re comparable for the defensive impact they bring to their teams. Neither are worth 40+.
