Laker fan here but I'm a realist....are we or are we not, the most spoiled team in the NBA? So long story short is that we want expiring contracts for Russ? What position are we in to have demands? First trade submitted, take it. I don't care if it Alvin, Simon and/or Theodore....accept and move on. We already got a ship outta Davis..send him to. Think about it, I never hear about the Lakers building around AD and he half LeBron age. You could get some assets for him. I'm just preparing for the rebuild and hopefully it's sooner than later cause the games are getting harder to watch

Lakers main problem is their branding. They brand themselves as the team tars want to come to and win championrubbishs. I think those days are sorta gone, but the Lakers managment is trying to hold on in order to get national TV gmes, sell merchandise & overcharge for ticket prices.

The rebuild is coming (unless you think adding Kyrie next year fixes anything) and the Lakers will not have significant picks for 3 years. Lol.

Laker fan, I'll start it off...
We have a problem: if we start LeBron at the 3 so AD can play the floor, LeBron won't make it past 55 games. That's the problem we face cause we surely don't want AD at the 5. No matter how we look at it, it's in our best interest to get rid of one.

Even though this year 20, LBJ brings more to the table than AD does. I can't think of no player that AD has made better. But if we get rid of him, we would have to address the 2, 3, and the 5.

I like this:

Boston receives: Anthony Davis
Gives up White, Brown and a 1st

Utah receives: Derrick White, Reaves and 1st from Lakers

Pacers receive: Russell Westbrook, 1st and a 2nd from Lakers, and a 1st from Boston

Lakers receive: Jalen Brown, Jordan Clarkson, B. Bogdanovic, Myles Turner, and Buddy Hield

PG-Beverly/Nunn
SG-Hield/Clarkson/Christie
SF-Brown/Walker/JTA
PF-James/Bogdanovic
C-Turner/Bryant/Jones

Non-bias: Every team got better. Boston becomes a defensive anchor while preserving their bigs.

Jazz get a 1st and a 1st round talent in Reaves and also a role player while getting rid of that last year of Clarkson contract

Pacers get off Hield contract while freeing up time for Duarte and that promising young backcourt. Russ wouldn't be a 6th man option either. Add the picks

Thoughts?

I think the Davis ship has sailed for Boston. His value is down as it is but then there's the fact that he didn't want to play there before. Too risky I believe. If Davis were not an injury risk and wanted to play there then maybe, but then that leaves only Smart, injury prone Brogdon, and Pritchard for both guard slots.

I wouldn't do that trade as the Celtics.

Utah is going to want more picks.

Lakers...I know it's easy to focus on trading Russ but here are your returning pieces:

Nunn/Westbrook
Monk/Christie
THT/Reaves
LBJ/
AD

See what O'Neal and Pippen do in summer league...

I focus more on getting shooting and defenders than an unpredictable Irving.

Not sure how the rules work but can LBJ and Russ opt out to open a max slot and take less money and return? You throw a Zach Lavine and possibly a Mitchell Robinson, you're adding the right side of youth and experience.

Not sure if that can happen but a lineup of

Nunn/Westbrook
Monk/Reaves/Christie
Lavine/THT
LBJ/???
AD/Robinson

That would be ALOT Better than last year.

If Lebron and Westbrook opt out, they have massive cap holds on the salary cap. The only way to sign a free agent is to then waive that cap hold. But without the cap hold, the Lakers could only sign those players with cap space, which means they’d be limited to paying one TPMLE (6m) and the other minimum.

So no. It’s not possible. This exact scenario is why cap holds exist.

Read the CBA. Knowledge is a good thing!
