Boston gets Beal, Thomas and Gasol

Washington gets Smart, Theis, Langford, Simons, Little, Memphis 19 1st, Boston 19 1st, Portland 19 1st and Boston 21 1st lottery protected.

Portland gets Brown.

Ummm. When you say 19 for draft picks, you really meant 20, right?

Brown worth Simmons, Little and a first? Betting Portland says no, no way.

Seems like a lot to give up for a nice wing that’s about to get really overpaid.

Also, is Brown much better than Bazemore and Hood? Three firsts better?

Boston is not looking to do a deal like this. at least not now. If things are not working out, maybe something like this at the deadline. I think they are content to see what their team is like when the real games are played.

Yeah, Portland is giving up to much. Maybe, if Portland is only giving up Simmons and then just one of Little or a 1st, it makes more sense?

Bmiller, I may be too high on Brown, but I really like him. He’s learned how to be a role player and he can can carry the offense at times. He’s a solid shooter, he’s athletic, he can finish, he can get his own shot, he can be a secondary ball handler and he can make you pay on close outs. He’s also a really good perimeter defender. He’s smart, athletic, hustles and has a big body. He can defend 3 and a half positions.

Bazemore is a solid defender and isn’t a 0 on offense, but I wouldn’t feel great about him being my best wing and best perimeter defender. I don’t think he’s carry a game good.

Hood can get hot and carry games, but he is a bad defender and he full on goes missing sometimes. I think Brown is better on both ends than both of them and he has more upside. Plus, with all the money Portland has come of off the books right now, they can afford to pay him.

Fair enough, I just don't see Brown as anything more than a 4th option. Portland has those, they've had those. If Portland is giving up assets, it has to be for a star. Not for a marginal upgrade.

Also, I am to the point of completely overvaluing Simons. He's been compared to Lillard and McCollum going into their second year by the team. With praise like that, I'm not trading him until it's known if he's got that kind of upside when he starts getting big minutes this year. If he does, he's way more valuable than Brown. If he doesn't, then maybe.
