Its easy to say "add picks if needed" when Miami really doesn't have much in picks to add.

Okay, let's try it like this. Miami needs to send Detroit picks because what they are getting back is not enough for Griffin + Maker. What pick are they getting? Be specific in your response and do a little research as to what picks Miami have available to trade.

Miami can add their 2025 1st and OKC can add the Denver 1st.

Because of the 3 years of protections on Miami's 2023 pick AND being unprotected in 2026, there is a possibility that the 2025 pick that you are offering may not convey until 2028 to Detroit. Do you honestly think the Detroit GM is willing to wait 5-8 years to get paid off on trading Griffin? Especially if he may be fired before that pick even arrives?

So essentially this trade doesn't help Detroit in the immediate or near future.
