Thunder gets:
Whiteside (buyout)

Trail Blazers gets:
Morris (expiring)
Portis
Smith Jr.

Knicks desperately need a PG and Paul's ability to play on and of the ball would fit well with Barrett. They also get picks for taking on longer contracts.

Thunder get under the luxury tax and also save money in the future. Whiteside can sign with a contender when he's been bought out.

Trail Blazers make this move to get more depth and go for a big playoff push this season. Maybe Smith Jr can learn from Dame and reach some of his potential.

What is Portland getting that's worth giving up a first?

I'm not even sure DSJ sees the court much with how much Portland is in love with Simons (and he's looked pretty good so far) .

Seems like Whiteside and Skal for Morris and Portis is pretty much a push.

I don't see much more depth in this trade.

And for the Thunder, they're just not getting out of Paul's deal without giving up assets. A Whiteside for Paul swap is totally unrealistic.
