Pistons get Chandler Parsons, Alex Len, and a second round pick

Hawks get Blake Griffin

The Pistons get two expiring contracts and clear cap space to assist them in their rebuild. They sell low on a talented player, but clearly assert their intention to rebuild around Sekou. Low risk, low reward deal for the Pistons.

The Hawks basically only give up a second round pick to gamble on Griffin. If he gets healthy and returns to All-Star form, he will be an excellent complement to Trae Young. However, the deal could backfire if Griffin stays injured and is a terrible contract. Medium risk, high reward deal for the Hawks.

Blake is done for the year. He’s almost unmovable right now. Why would Atlanta do this now?

Next year see his explanation it’s a roll of the dice cheap.

It doesn’t answers my question. Why not wait until the offseason? Also, why give up any assets?

Parsons is darn near retired now Len and 2nd is a far cry from an assest.

Irkenne, If you want blake with his history and injuries who cares about a 2nd rounder.

Piston can buy out parsons and save money.

26 Jan 2020 18:26:16
why would parsons take a buyout? he's not going to play or sign anywhere else, so basically they'd be asking him to do them a favour and give them back some of the money he'd been promised when he signed his contract. just because he's a nice guy? .
buyouts are either at a discount because the player knows he can recover what he gives up by signing with another team, or at full pop just because the team doesn't want the distraction. players who can't play anymore don't generally give salary back for nothing.
