Makes the 76ers worse. Horford is still a good Center and maybe the best backup Center. Unloading a contract makes only sense for the 76ers if it gives them the possibility to get better.
Wirh this trade they get worse and lose their last assets.

Remember the economics. Owners are businesspeople. The cap is dropping. There aren't fans in the arena. Philly cannot have all those salaries, pay the tax and lose money at the arena. They have to unload some of those salaries like Horford's and/ or Harris' or they're going to lose millions next year. They went all in and it didn't work. They have to cut their losses somewhere.

Sixers is lucky if they do this kind of trade with Horford. Horford can be the best back up center but also the most expensive one.
