Celtics get LaMarcus Aldridge (opt-in) and Chimezie Metu

Spurs get Gordon Hayward (opt-in) and the 14th overall pick

The Celtics get the big man they need on an expiring contract. Kemba/Smart/Brown/Tatum/Aldridge should stand a much better chance against the Heat.

The Spurs should be trying to get younger. This trade accomplishes that, as they get an expiring contract who can still ball in Hayward and a late-lottery pick. Spurs stay relevant while keeping their eyes on the future.

They should try to get a 19-23 year old, not 30 year old Hayward.

30? Aldridge is 35. Lol i truly don't think the Celtics want to trade Hayward. The Celtics are a better team when he is on the floor. If he could only stay healthy. Lol
Granted, he hasn't lived up to yhe contract, for obvious reasons. But he was one of their top players this season when healthy. Anyone who disagrees with that, either is willing to give him a break or just hasn't paid attention.

JoeB Hayward was a good piece for them but they’d be better off with a quality big man who can start over Theis. That man got dominated by Bam. Aldridge would be a much tougher matchup.

Plius Hayward hasn't proved to be able to mentor a young team.

I don't think Aldridge is the answer for Boston and with this trade they still have a hole somewhere else.

20 Oct 2020 20:11:20
Boston fans don't even want to try. What if what you need is not available? You just settle?

20 Oct 2020 20:32:16
Is settling on two young star wings that are 23 and 21, and two star (ish) vets that are both 29, a team that just made the conference finals, really a bad place to settle?

I’d gamble on that teams success over the next 3 years.

I think the Celtics need interior help. They are swallowed by Bam Adebayo. Without Hayward, they are the same team. With Aldridge, it might look different. But knowing the Celtics, they rather trade for a superstar.

Triplethreat. no way I'm going yo make that deal for a 35 yr old player, He may only have a year or so left. I'm not trading a major piece for him.

21 Oct 2020 03:36:50
Hayward's defense is non existent and his offense is nothing like it used to be post injury. Can't see why Boston would keep him. They really need a big, not necessarily Aldridge, but someone decent on both ends of the floor. It was a glaring weakness in the playoffs.

21 Oct 2020 09:09:24
Postal. you obviously hadn't watched Hayward at all this year. If you had seen him, you'd know what kind of crap you're spewing. No offense.

21 Oct 2020 11:00:29
I did watch Hayward, especially in the playoffs, and that's in the East where average players look like all stars. Hayward's defense is awful and his offense isn't close to what it was pre injury. Did you watch the playoffs? Bam ate Boston's lunch. Where was Hayward? Thirty million can get you a really good big man v. an average wing in the East.
