Why does it matter what Hayward wants? There’s no way he’s opting out. He loses 35 million, this year. He has to sign a contract in a dead market. He also doesn’t get the chance to prove it one more year removed from the injury.
Also, Cleveland gives him a pretty good opportunity to show out. He’d get a ton of touches, probably gets to be a play maker a ton. There’s enough offensive talent in Cleveland to help him too with Love and Sexton. He’d get a pass for whatever happens defensively. The Cavs would also probably work with him if he wanted out at the deadline or could throw him a big deal because they don’t have anything else to do with cap.

I don't think Boston does that because I don't think much of the 2 players they're getting. I think they could do better.

Hayward does have to opt in, as you point out RKenne, but why would he opt in to be traded somewhere he doesn't want to go? I think he'd take less money for a longterm deal.
The other thing, is his trade kicker. He gets another 6 mil if he gets traded. that is 40 million.
I don't really like the return, anyway.

The league views Sexton as a great bench player not a franchise player. the Cavs want to rebuild they don’t want to just make a playoff push. They want to build through the draft and build a contender.

ll, this draft isn’t great at the top, but it’s deep. You end up with 5 interesting prospects plus a vet that fits better with your team. I’d rather have 5 chances for a double than 1 chance at a triple.
