Golden State Warriors: Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, John Collins;

Brooklyn Nets: Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, 1º pick 2021 (Minnesota-Top 3 protected), 1º pick 2022;

Atlanta Hawks:2th pick 2020.

Like it for Atlanta. But it doesn’t make any sense for Brooklyn. They want to compete now.

10 Nov 2020 14:50:57
If the 2nd pick is needed to equalize Wiggins, then how is GS getting useable assets for the Minny pick and Poole?

10 Nov 2020 15:00:34
Because that’s not true Darry. #2 has more value than Wiggins has negative, and it’s not particularly close. Wiggins and the Minnesota pick were traded for a borderline all star less than a year ago.

10 Nov 2020 15:05:28
Like fredman said, Horford's contract needed 4 1sts to equalize. So it would be reasonable that Wiggins's would need 3. Now, since this is a weak draft, I say the 2nd pick is worth 3 future late 1sts.

10 Nov 2020 15:14:58
Wiggins not negative value. Just dead money pretty much or no value. He can score but his ethics don't lead to wins. Wiggins and a top 3 protected pick for Russell shows it. If that was the case warriors would got more then just top 3 protected pick when pairing Russell and kat they should get enough wins to get 9th spot in west or could be higher if they stay healthy and other teams don't.

where is the 2022 1st coming from? . if it's GSW then the Hawks are getting the 2nd overall this year for Collins. seems like more than he's worth.

10 Nov 2020 15:34:21
I can’t see Collins bringing back the second without the 6th being added.

10 Nov 2020 15:39:49
I’ll take recent proof over hyperbole and assumptions on Wiggins negative value.

And no one in their right mind would trade the #2 pick for 3 late firsts.

10 Nov 2020 16:12:03
Really now? I was mistaken, actually, in saying the 1sts are late. If the 1sts are stereotypical 1sts, then they should be about 15th.
Now, there was a trade proposal that went 6 for 14, 26, and 30. I say 6 in a future draft is worth about 2 in this draft. So 3 15's in the future for the 2nd pick now seems fair.

10 Nov 2020 17:49:06
It will not take 4 firsts just to dumb horford, I really hate that thought. Can easily dump him for nothing if you want.

76ers - Batum

Hornets- Horford Thybulle and 21st.

10 Nov 2020 18:24:49
@Darry_Doza My Horford salary dump analysis was 4 LATE first round picks. There is a MASSIVE difference between late first round picks and the #2 pick in the draft.

Look at what is happening with Boston right now. They are trying to get teams around pick #9 to take #14, #26 AND #30. That is a lottery pick and 2 late firsts that don't get anywhere near the #2 pick.

Without doing any real analysis, I would say #2+Wiggins would still have a VALUE of a mid-first round pick (12-18). However, I seriously doubt that the GSW is looking to "salary dump" Wiggins. Does Wigging+#2 for Kings #12 make any sense? I think they are in the start of transitioning from a team where Curry/ Thompson/ Green were surrounded by veterans to a team where Curry/ Thompson/ Green are the veterans surrounding young, talented players.

Laughing at those who think Wiggins and that contract are not negative value. They are

10 Nov 2020 20:16:09
Fredman has it spot on Darry.

10 Nov 2020 21:25:57
I don't recall you ever saying LATE 1sts. You said 1sts. Thus when you assume 1sts you can assume it's the 15th.

10 Nov 2020 21:58:43
I know I was using examples of salary dumps that included late first round picks being packaged. If it was not clearly stated as LATE firsts, it was very obvious to most.

Wiggins is one of the five worst contracts in the nba.

His VORP is barely above zero. You can literally get as much productive play (not “inefficient points”) from a replacement player on a minimum salary. That makes Wiggins about $30 mil over paid, for each of the next three years.

11 Nov 2020 07:51:47
BMiller, that “borderline all star” was overpaid as well on a new max deal.

The way to judge whether the package of a bad asset and a good one balance each other’s to lump the salaries.

Wiggins and #2 will cost a team about $39 mil a year for the next three years.

How good does the #2 need to be to make that positive trade value? All star production from a rookie?
