So, BMiller, a big Portland fan. What can you say about this deal right here?

Portland: Covington
Rockets: Ariza, 2020 1st, 2021 protected 1st

finally you have your 3 and D forward but seems like an overpay? no?

Definitely an overpay, but it was the cost because he was going to be a target by a lot of teams. I’m really happy with the move.

If they can get a good pickup for their MLE (Gallinari, Ibaka), that’s a good starting 5 with a solid bench.

Two firsts seems like an overpay imo.

Like we said, it's a seller's market this year. Almost every trade so far has been an overpay, but if you want a player, that's the price. What is surprising me is how the small market teams are overpaying. It's much more difficult to attract talent to a small market team; therefore, they should be much more cautious about trading multiple picks.

Idk what the Rockets' direction is.

I agree with that in theory postal, but if you already have the superstar and that pick won’t be high, you can be much more open to moving picks.

If it helps them win a championship and keep Giannis then its not an overpay.

I don't think it's an overpay at all. The best the Rockets can hope for is this year's #16 and next year's #15 picks (lottery protections are great), plus an aging Ariza. The Blazers got a better defender, with roughly the same offensive output at a lower salary who is 6 yrs younger. It was as fair a deal as I've seen for quite some time.
