Lakers can actually do this now. Before they could not sign Holiday as a S&T because it would have put them over next years Hard Apron Tax level (by about $10 mil if Harrell opts in) and they Lakers would still have 7 roster spots to fill which is below the league minimum.

But with Holiday signing the extension, there is no S&T and therefore no hard apron cap.
