Pretty good trade, though I doubt the Celtics would be interested in trading for Turner given what transpired last offseason.

They won't trade Rob Williams unless it's in a package for a star, so there's no need to trade a better player for overpaid mediocre Turner.

Turner > Williams.

I'm not a big star geek but these were the per leaders for this season. It showed the top 50 and very predictably Turner's name didn't appear.

1. Jokic
2. Embiid
3. Giannis
4. Zion
5. Butler
6. Durant
7. Curry
8. Kawhi
9. Robert Williams
10. Dame
11. Doncic
12. Harden
13. Irving

Boston plays much better offensively and defensively when Williams is on the floor. Even against the Nets in a series in which they are completely outgunned, they are winning his minutes. This is not a fluke as it's been a consistent pattern. They were a .500 team this year, but with Williams as a starter and playing more minutes, they were 11-3, and that was with other key players out.

Turner reminds me of Aaron Gordon. People are in love with their skill but they are overpaid. They show flashed but for much of the game you don't even notice they are on the court. Let's not cream our pants because Turner shoots 3's. The other team wants him to and he's happy to oblige with mediocre results. He's not a floor stretcher because anybody can gaurd him on the perimeter as he's not a threat to take it inside or make plays for others. Indy offered him to Boston in the offseason but they didn't want him. Ainge called around the league to gauge his value and the results were not good. That is why he's still in Indiana. Williams is a more impactful player right now and he's just scratching the surface. Take into account what his upside is and their salaries are and it's Williams>>>>Turner and it's not really close.

@Nightcap. Value is totally dependent on what system the team is running. In Sacramento, I can not really play Williams with Holmes or Bagley because it clogs up the lane too much for Fox and others. However, Turner's ability to shoot 3s does allow for Turner to be on the court with Bagley or Holmes which makes Turner more valuable to Sacramento.

Now, the only real issue with Turner is his lack of rebounding numbers. This is primarily because he is on the perimeter which makes getting offensive rebounds more difficult. If Turner's was averaging double figures in rebounding, then a lot of teams would be looking to trade for him.

Fredman I agree with you, and I don't think he's a bum. I just think people are more in love with the idea of him more than his actual production. Regarding this trade, Boston didn't want him last off-season. With the emergence of Robert Williams this year, they sure as hell aren't going to trade Marcus smart for him now.

Regardless of whether its good for boston ( i say yes), this doesn't help indiana. Smart's offensive ability is going to waste in this situation. Indiana doesn't need another facilitator they're already starting brogdon and lavert not to mention sabonis is also used as a facilitator . they would probably be looking for a versatile 3 and d like og anunoby for example not that the raptors want to deal him.
