Saw this in two different articles.

Charlotte is preparing to offer Cleveland's RFA Jarrett Allen a near-max ($20+ mil) offer with the hopes that Cleveland does not match.

Soooooooo. Does Cleveland match?

The Cavs can pay Allen. There is or should be little or no concern in their ability to pay the #3 Pick too. Why some feel it's an either or situation makes no sense whatsoever. The nets made the error with Allen and the Cavs have and will capitalize on their good luck.

Bc it’s very unlikely they’ll pay both Sexton/ Allen the max. So they need to decide who they rather have. Or who they will rather draft. If Mobley is there and he’s #1 on their board why pay Allen the max instead? Or if they prefer Green or Suggs why pay Sexton the max?

Who said Sexton will be paid the max? That alone is part of the reason the Cavs will probably move him. The real questions are what will they get in return and who will they draft? Don't think that a max contract was even considered in the case of Sexton. Obviously if traded the return will determine the draft pick at three. The organization has said from the beginning they will match for Allen.

Timeline seems a little shaky. If you are trading Sexton before the #3 pick is selected, then you got 30 days to get it done which almost every team GM is focused on evaluating draft prospect talent. Go luck with that.

Also, if a team trades assets for Sexton now, they are committing themselves to pay Sexton the max. Which teams desire Sexton that much and have that much $$$ available to give him? I am not seeing one unless you want to go with NY Knicks.

Neither is worth the max. Much easier to find a rim protector/ rim running big than a 20+ ppg scorer who’s been pretty efficient from the floor.

Cleveland can't afford to lose Allen. Who replaces him? He's really good and worth the max.

@nba16. Actually I think the rim running and protecting big is rarer than the 20 pt scorer. Almost every team has a 20 pt scorer, but there are several teams looking for that big man.

A good big man isn’t that hard to find really. That position requires the least amount of skill unless you’re play style is like Jokic, Embiid or Bams. No way I would pay a center a max contract unless they were elite. Allen isn’t on Gobert’s level and even a max is an over pay for him Bc he steadily gets exposed on D in playoffs when teams actually game plan to attack him. I’d put Allen on par with Capela Turner Valanciunas in terms on value and contract value.
