3 team = GSW/Pels/Knicks

GSW = B. Ingram; M. Robinson; 2-2021 2nd rd pics (Pels); '22 1st (LAL)

Pels = J. Wiseman; Pic 7 & 14 (GSW); Quigley; Toppin; Pic 19 (Knicks)

Knicks = Ball; Wiggins; Adams

So Ball is a S&T, right? Take him and pick #19 out and treat as a separate deal.

How much cap space will the Knicks have left after taking on the nearly $40 mil in salary with Wiggins + Adams? Something in the $10-$15 mil range without waiving Randle? That's what Ball is signing for?

I agree about the Knicks cap space issue. It was hard to determine because they have so many players under "FA" status so filling out the roster would take some effort.

Also, I had some other moves for the Pelicans to move Bledsoe and 1 or 2 of the 1st Rd picks (maybe to the Heat in a deal that included Herro) .

I was hoping the Pels with the extra cap space would make a solid run at N. Powell if he opts out of his deal.

Free agency is after the draft. You cannot do a trade with a S&T and a 2021 pick.

Horrible for Pels.

In what way is it "horrible" for the Pelicans?

Because picks don’t help a team with substantial picks already and a Superstar you need to get into a win now mode to keep. Wiseman is nowhere near the talent level of Ingram. Pels need to trade for talent and give up picks to do so. Not give up an All Stat.

I'm both a huge Pels fan and a Duke fan! I definitely love having both Ingram and Zion on the same team. For the Pels, as a small market team they almost certainly will never go into the luxury tax world. In 2 yrs they will need to re-sign Zion, Hayes, and Walker. To build a solid team around Zion they will have to rely more heavily on young players with rookie level contracts. This is a rare very deep draft where they can address most of their needs and create solid cap space in the future by sacrificing Ingram. I hate to lose him but this trade scenario really puts the Pelicans in great shape now and for the long term! Sometimes it not always about exact equal value but more about building a sustainable team for years to come!

Deep draft? The drop off after pick 4 is huge. Picks 5-16 are decent but not impact.

If you are at #10 (or #9 for that matter) and you are looking for something that has an impact, then you are drafting the player with the highest POTENTIAL. Hope the team can develop and harvest that potential.
