You will throw up in your mouth MD but hear me out.

Toronto gets-
Al Horford

Orlando gets-
A. Nesmith
G. Dragic
C. Boucher
Two 1sts via Boston.

Boston gets-
J. Issac
T. Ross

Why for Toronto-
They're getting a player better than what they're giving up and the perfect guy to mentor Precious, who I think has the chance to become a pretty good player. After the season Horford is an expiring contract and that has value.

Why for Boston-
It's risk vs reward. If Issac continues to have injury issues it becomes a bad trade for Boston. If he stays healthy it raises their ceiling. A starting unit of Smart, Brown, Tatum, Issac, and Williams would be hell defensively. Ross is a fine player who would help any team.

Why for Orlando-
At first glance it looks like they're getting screwed, but there's much more to it than what you see at face value. First of all, Issac is expendable because of his injury concern and the presence of Carter Jr. Carter Jr. is locked up for less money and is an improving player. Yes he can play the 5 but his preferred position is at the 4. Getting a couple of 1sts is always great, and Nesmith is not a bust. He hasn't played a full season yet and hasn't been given proper opportunity for the games he has played. Orlando could give him 30 minutes a game and allow him to play through his mistakes and grow. He has shown flashes and Orlando could use a young shooter. The hidden gem here for Orlando is cap space for next offseason. This trade brings them from about 18 mil to spend to almost 50 mil, in a year when not a lot of teams have money to spend. Part of this trade includes who Orlando will be able to sign, which could include a max player while still having a lot of money left over. With a ton of money to spend, a crapload of picks, and several promising young pieces, they would be in an enviable position moving forward. They should also move Bamba and perhaps Fultz. MD, stop trying to trade Gary Harris! You can use his expiring money in free agency!

If the two first round picks are unprotected than I’ll be okay if the first round picks are protected I’m not okay with it

As Magic fan I want Celtics picks to be unprotected than Magic accept the deal

If not! No!

Make the picks unprotected Nighcap.

With the way Boucher has been playing as of late I think he has a lot more value.

03 Jan 2022 17:46:51
Not sure how this helps Boston this year?

I really don't think the maximizing cap space next year is a thing for Orlando to consider. What max-slot level star is looking to play with this roster in Orlando? Beal? Lavine? Ayton? I am sorry but next year's FA pool is very very limited if Harden, Irving, Westbrook and Beal opt into the remaining year of their current deals.

03 Jan 2022 18:58:11
It probably doesn't help Boston this year.

As far as Orlando or anyone else, it's better to have cap space than to not. Does Charlotte match a max offer for Miles Bridges? Maybe, but it doesn't have to be a max player either. The point is that if Orlando were to trade Ross and Issac, presumably they would receive back players of equal value, but they wouldn't receive picks and a prospect on top of that. It would be either or, but it wouldn't be both. With cap space, they could sign players of comparable value, while still receiving the picks and the prospect.

Darry, what do you think Boucher is worth? Just my two cents but I think it is very minimal.

03 Jan 2022 19:07:20
As far as protections, that's beyond my brain's capability. This is just guesswork.

03 Jan 2022 21:53:11
It's not bad, but. Orlando has no need of a Vet PG like Dragic and has not a lot of minutes to give Nesmith. Nesmith is a 2/ 3 and Orlando has a lot of young guards and wings already. Plus, the picks are probably going to be late 1st Rd and little value.

If Orlando could redirect Dragic and Nesmith, or involve another t am in this deal and get a player they could actually use it could be doable.

03 Jan 2022 22:45:50
The whole point of Dragic is that they don't need him and that they can use his expired salary slot after the end of the season.

04 Jan 2022 01:30:05
I don't hate it for Toronto, but I agree with Darry on Boucher's value. And he is particularly valuable to the Raptors because he will take a home town discount to stay. he loves playing in Toronto. Happy to be rid of Dragic's 19.4, but don't see much value in taking on Horford's 5M not to play on next year's cap. I think the Raptors are better served with coaches developing players than veterans that aren't familiar with the complex systems Nurse runs.

I like this. Ross and Nesmith is a swap that makes sense. Similar trade value, and the win now team gets the win now player.

Isaac might have the value of two firsts at the top end. Like you said, high risk. But possibly a huge gain.

04 Jan 2022 12:15:27
When healthy, Isaac is a big impact player. This is a steal for the Celtics.

04 Jan 2022 12:18:19
I’m a big fan of Isaac and think he would be a great fit in Boston. However, (i) Ross is overrated and not worth of a protected first, let alone an unprotected one like Mr. MD is demanding in order for him to “ok” this trade (as we all know, a conditio sine qua non for the trade to go down) ; and (ii) Horford, Neismith and 1 unprotected pick seem a bit to much for a player who hasn’t proved yet that he can remain healthy (talking about Isaac, obviously) . It would be a huge gamble on Isaac’s health. Having said that, if Stevens were to pull the trigger, I’d 100% support it. got to take some chances in order to hit the jackpot and build a championship-caliber team.

04 Jan 2022 12:26:40
So, trade a young player with promising upside to pay a player not to play? Sounds counter productive to me. Granted Isaac has been injured but when he is healthy he is a beast on D.

04 Jan 2022 16:37:16
It's a not bad trade but horford isn't the center Toronto needs. But would be a good mentor for the young guys.

They should trade for Turner and have tent j off the bench With og barns a siakim Turner and fredy.

04 Jan 2022 21:06:58
Magic would add mavericks for green and a first for dragic.

04 Jan 2022 21:29:36
i like how the Boston picks have to be unprotected. Celts will be lucky if they get a lottery pick anytime soon. they are closer to contention than out of it, their picks and young talent can be used to get a legit 3rd star.

the Pistons, Magic, Rockets, Thunder will have the picks that would need to be protected, and i doubt any of them are getting traded anytime soon.

04 Jan 2022 22:14:59
Wouldn't you have to give up one of those guys to get Turner, Sivret?

04 Jan 2022 23:00:57
I think Boucher is worth 2 2nds or a late first.

05 Jan 2022 00:25:31
A late 1st for Boucher? Two 2nds is what the Magic got for Fournier, a much better player. I think he gets Toronto a protected 2nd if a team is desperate.

08 Jan 2022 11:22:05
jaylen has two more years left. the nba is a "now" business. and the time for the celtics is "now, " not maybe next year if isaac can successfully come back from knee surgery and fulfil "promise and potential. " agree with fredman . its not goign to help the celtics now. a team imo that is one player away. kendrick perkins said today that the celtics are one of the leading teams that has lost by 5 or more fewer points. have lost six games when they have lead by 15 or more. they need another efficient 20 point score that can shoot the 3.
