For the last couple of years, you guys have been screaming that Boston needs a big man. Now that they finally have one, you want to ship him out of town. Yes Murray is an upgrade over Smart, but not enough to get to the point where you have no bigs moving forward. Horford has one foot out the door, as does Richardson who you have in the starting lineup. Plus the trade does nothing to address perhaps their biggest need, which is shooting. You're just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I don’t get it. The only “Williams” I see on the Celtics roster post-trade is one that they already have (Grant Williams) . Unlike Nightcap, I think the Celtics would indeed consider Smart+Rob Williams for Murray, but the package going the Spurs way is not that good. Wright and Johnson, really?

Just because you think Marcus smart is overrated doesn't mean he is. I've watched just about every game of his career, and if I thought they could trade him for somebody who can replace what he gives, I would be all for it. I know you think Bamba is as good as Williams, but he is not. Williams also has much more value because of his contract. Nobody is untouchable for me but it has to make sense. I don't see them making any big moves until the off-season.

You are also making my point by the way. If you think Williams is so easy to replace, then replace him with something else in the trade, either from Boston or from a third team. That way you avoid this issue all together. You want to come up with trades and then just say oh well the team can make another trade later.

Nightcap, Williams is easy to replace. It’s not hard to find a rim running big. I didn’t add one on this trade Bc of salary purposes. Sure you can add Peoltl for Richardson and 2nd or send a 2nd for Dieng. Smart is definitely overrated. He’s only good at defense. As a guard he’s eh at both shooting and playmaking. Bamba is pretty much same level (Bmiller agreed) and has way more potential on the offensive level. And no he won’t cost a whole lot (8-13 a year maybe)

Williams is capable of having the offense run through him, he had 10 assists in a game last week. Furthermore, he is exceptional at team defense which Bamba is horrible at. So yeah, let San Antonio have Bamba if they are so close and Boston can compensate Orlando, because I want no part of that player. As a back up, sure, but he will make a good amount of money for a back up.

im done with the celtics. they don't really have any assets to pull something off (2023 1st round and tpe) and good chance they might come to realize that its better to sell off assets and plan for next year. they went all in with marcus smart at the 1.failed. it is what it is. the raptors with dragic and a first round pick could get it done. when healthy they are six deep with two all stars. maybe a poeltle/ ingles/ bledsoe/ gordon. they just need two and remain healthy. look at the raptors 2019 playoff team compared to this team. one game away from the ecf. its very close. i bought them at 100/ 1 to win the east two weeks ago. added some more today at 80/ 1 as well as nba champ at 250/ 1.the boston celtics. i'm done.

nesmith and langford (zero trade value) and you trade away bane. you can't bet on losers. its too hard even betting on winners. can't believe i was so bullish betting on the celtics before the trade deadline. seriously. what do they have other than legit untradeable assets like williams, tatum and brown? . at this point smart is a sixth man.

Mybe this is the reason why ainge left. he saw that both nesmith and langfrod were going to be worthless coupled with his bad luck kemba/ hayward (injuries without prior history) and he just said his run was over. good luck with anyone betting the celtics at the deadline. i'm with Nightcap 100 percent. nothing will get done because there really is nothing that they can do. that's what happens when you have rubbish drafts and make rubbish decisions (smart at the point)
