Why would the number 1 east team trade their best player for a disgruntled star and an overpaid player?

Simmons is younger and he still has the potential to become an MVP. Miami is the perfect place for him.
Miami wants to win titles, not just make the playoffs.

I really like Butler, but there's little chance Miami is going to win the title this or next year. Lowry is 35 and Butler is 32. That window is closing soon.

Simmons is damaged material, but he's still young, has still potential to become an MVP and he fits the Adebayo-Herro-Simmons big three timeline.

Daryl Morey isn't going to get a superstar+ multiple first rounds back for Simmons, but that's simmons his true value, so i truly believe that this would be a great trade for Miami.

Can we stop with “Simmons has the potential to be MVP”? He doesn’t. He really really doesn’t.

AD, Lillard, Embiid, Paul, and Kawhi have a combined zero MVPs. Simmons ceiling isn’t higher than any of those guys.

Dude your trades are starting to look like ringring's.

Embiid, Lilliard, Paul and AD all have been in MVP consideration once in their career.

Simmons still is a great talent, but he has a mental problem.
I believe that a new team and good shrink could help a lot.

The Ringring comparison is harsh :-p.
