Dallas could have signed Brunson to a four-year extension for as much as $55.5 million before the season, but the Mavs didn't offer it then nor did they engage in negotiations with Brunson's representatives.

Additionally, there are reports that Dallas has absolutely no interest in accommodating teams with a S&T.

Who has a big chunk of cap space? OKC? Brunson-SGA-Giddey and a big drafted at #4?

Agree0 Disagree1

Doesn't look like OKC has 20+ million in cap space.

San Antonio and Portland do. And Indiana, Detroit, and Orlando.

If I was Portland, I would move on from Lillard and give Brunson the contract he wants.

Build around Brunson, their 2022 1st round pick, and whatever they can get for Lillard.

Brunson is not available. Mavs want to have CAP in the summer - max. flexibility. Brunson they can and will sign finally, since they can and will sign Brunson also over the CAP.

How will Mavs get such cap space?

And Brunson is an UFA. He can sign wherever he wants and Dallas can do nothing about it.

apparently trick some team into taking Bertans and Kleber for a 1st round pick.

How does Dallas have cap space when they are already projected to be over the luxury tax line for next year? Going to salary dump with the #26 pick when there is limited teams with the necessary cap space? Good luck with that.

@Carl006. Spotrac says that OKC can have a max of $48 mil in cap space if Favors turns down his option and waives all their non-guarenteed/ team option contracts. Which they will have to clear roster spots for their draft picks.

Fredman, I think Spotrac is wrong. They are not counting Kemba Walker's dead cap, which is $27 million.
