I was reading an article stating that if Miami fails to get a superstar talent like KD or Utah's Mitchell, then they are eyeing Sacramento's Harrison Barnes. a Veteran 3/ 4 that can play with Butler at the 3 and Bam at the 5.

Because both teams are over the salary cap, the only salary that Miami has that makes any sense would be Duncan Robinson. I don't think that would be enough for Monte McNair to do a straight swap. Does Miami adding their 2023 first round pick make it work? How about expanding the trade to include Herro on Miami side and Terrance Davis (+ a 2023 second? ) on Sacramento's side?

How do you see this "initial talk" growing into a deal being done?

I don’t think Miami included Herro for Barnes, maybe for another star player.

Robinson probably takes a first just to move without getting Barnes.

It never ceases to amaze me what some GMs around the league are able to pull off. Morey comes to mind, Danny Ainge. Riley is probably tops of all, so be careful. He tends to get what he wants without really sacrificing much at all in the long run.

I Like a D Robinson+T Herro trade for Barnes

I like this for Miami
-Barnes is a good fit
-They dump Robinson
-They don't lose Herro for nothing

I like this for sacramento
-They need shooters and get two
-Herro would be good next to Fox, improving their defense and offense.

I doubt I would include Mitchell. Last year Mitchell ranked in the top 10 of the league as an isolation defender. This could be key for the Kings with the return of Lillard and if Donovan Mitchell is still in Utah. I think Portland and Utah will be the Kins main competition in making a playoff spot this year.
