Lakers get Kyrie Irving

Celtics get KCP, Lonzo Ball, and the Lakers unprotected 2019 first round pick

This may seem like an underwhelming package for Kyrie, but one should consider that the Celtics only gave up IT, Crowder, Zizic, the Nets pick (Collin Sexton), and a second rounder for Kyrie when he had two years left on his deal. Kyrie only has half a season left on his deal, has continued to get injured, and has been a drama queen in Boston who feuds with the young guys. I'm not sure Kyrie is worth the huge contract he will demand from Boston and there is no guarantee he even stays in Boston.

The Celtics replenish the Nets pick with Lonzo, a new franchise point guard who you can pair with Tatum and Brown. The first from the Lakers more than makes up for the second rounder, and KCP is an expiring contract who will give the Celtics financial flexibility to re-sign guys like Marcus Morris. The C's stay patient and build for the future. This deal also works with Ingram instead of Lonzo, so the Celtics can have their choice between those guys.

Celtics not ruining their chances of title run. You want Irving give him max deal.

@shizee how much of a chance at a title run do the Celtics really have? Getting past Toronto and Milwaukee will be hard enough, then once you get past them you have the Golden State megateam to deal with. With Kyrie out of the mix the Celtics can go back to playing the way they did in last year’s postseason: team basketball. It’d also be great for Tatum’s development.

So the Lakers give up Lonzo Ball and middle of the first round pick and get back a 26 year old allstar?
