OKC- Kenrich Williams, Isiah Roby, Denver 2021 2nd
CLE- Kevin Love, 2021 2nd, 2027 1st top 8 protected, turns into two second round picks if not conveyed

Okc takes on a bad contract while moving up in the second round this year and adding another future first. Both players they are giving up are decent and have potential, but there are too many players on the roster needing playing time. Cleveland wants to trade Love and do not give up much to get rid of him, while adding some cheap depth pieces.

So why is Cleveland giving up trade assets to dump Love? Adding $7 mil salary for their 1st round pick, puts Cleveland right at the salary floor WITH Love's contract (AKA the money for Love's salary is already spent) . Seems more like Cleveland is just throwing away draft picks.

The Cavs can simply buy out Kevin Love. Giving up a first in the middle of a rebuild is dumb.

They aren’t giving up a pick for 6 years, and get assets that could help them rebuild faster. Cleveland can also spend the money from love on more useful players. OKC also didn’t want to trade Kenrich Williams at the trade deadline this year because he has value, so it’s not like Cleveland isn’t getting anything in return for a washed up 30 million dollar man.
