76ers / Twolves

if ping pong balls fall. #1 knicks, #2 sixers, #3 or #4 twolves. Scenerio is not far fetched. just need sixers and twolves to flip flop current spots(presently separated by 1/2 a game).

Knicks take Okafor at #1
Sixers take Towns at #2 and trade him to Twolves for there pick(sixers take either Russell or Mudiay) and Zach LaVine. LaVine is another high upside, young talent player that hinkie loves. We still get the point guard we want, and a young combo guard that brett brown could do wonders with.
Twolves love Towns, and would be their stud PF/C of the future.
Would Twolves be willing to give up LaVine to get the big time big man they need??

Wolves would not trade Lavine to move up 1 spot, when they could just take Russel

I see no downside for Sixers on this deal. Minnesota does love towns so they probably should do that deal to get the guy they want. Lavines a high price but I think they'd consider it.

This is similar to my post about the Sixers and lakers doing the same thing, but with Juiius Randle and the sweetener.

I think I would consider this trade if I was both teams. Although the Wolves might ask for a Sixers pick later in the first round (the OKC pick if it conveys).

What's interesting is that Zach Levine is a 42% shooting, 6'5" PG that was not a high lottery pick. The Sixers just traded that player to the Bucks.

Would you rather try to get Shabazz Muhammed from the Wolves to play the SF. I'd draft Russell at 4 and J. Grant (ND) with the Miami pick. I wind up with a backcourt of two guys that can shoot and handle the ball that are around 6'5".

Guards: Wroten, Russell, Grant (ND), J.Rich (trusted veteran), Smith/Cannan (cheap)
SF: Muhammad, Grant
PF: T. Robinson, Noel
C: Embiid, Simms, Trusted Veteran banger free agent

That leaves Covington as the odd man out. He gets traded.

phillyrich1: I would consider your trade as well. Muhammad would be a nice SF, and I also like the size and skill sets of a Russell-Grant backcourt.

No way In hell the Timberwolves would even think about trading one spot up and giving up the most athletic player in the league!!!! And also @phillyrich1: it would even be WORSE if the wolves gave up Muhammad. He is a all star in two years no doubt. I'm fine will the best shooter in the draft in Russell who reminds me of a guy with a nice beard

First, I think there's a making of a trade here. Wolves want the big (Towns), Sixers don't need the big and want a small. I have the Sixers giving up the OKC first rounder to Minnesota. Wolves can have Covington too. Sixers want a 2nd rounder back in return.

Sixers get 4, Muhammad, future 2nd rounder
Wolves get 2, OKC pick, Covington

Second, if you don't like the trade, I'm fine with that. As GM of the Sixers, I have teams banging my door down for that #2 pick because all the teams in that 3-5 range need a big and want Towns. I have the Lakers baiting the hook with Julius Randle. I got Orlando, who is disappointed with their reaching for Aaron Gordon looking for another big to go with Vucevic,

Third, if I don't get what I want, I'll just take Towns and use Towns, Embiid, Noel and T. Robinson with Simms in reserve and Saric overseas as my rotating frontcourt, keeping everyone fresh for a 80+ game season plus another 20+ playoff games.

And if someone on in the league wants to come get one of my bigs later on, that's ok too. I'll be happy to wait and see what Golden State or the Trailblazers or some other team wants to offer as they see they don't have the bigs to win it all.

phillyrich1. I think you're being a bit generous. keep Covington out of it. he comes real cheap and is a decent role player who is still young. Ill go #2 and okc's pick for #4 and Muhammad.

i think you may be right. Its a pretty interesting trade- except that now the Sixers are 3 and Wolves are 2.

End of year tanking is going to be full-contact sport. I"m fine with the Sixers in the 3-4 spot and just getting their guard.
