I llke Brandon Jennings. If the Sixers can get him as a 1 year stop-gap without giving up Covington I think they do that.
I believe Jennings is in the final year of his contract. He won't be a Sixer in two years. I don't think they move a guy that will be a Sixer in two years for a guy that won't be a Sixer in two years.
Although Covington's ability is often mocked on these boards, he really had a good year (for a bad team). He shot about 50% from 2pt range and 37.4% from 3pt range.
He's big, young, cheap and locked up for 3 more seasons. And with the introduction of a low post player, he becomes all the more valuable as a spot up shooter.

Are you kidding? People mock him because he shot under 40%! The three point number is correct. But under 40 on field goals won't keep you in the league. If you go just 2 pointers. He's at 42%. But seeing as over half his shots are threes, got to look at field goal percentage. And he fails there.

I think philly wants to tank this year then next year draft a pg

Pizza: how about that! You're correct. I misread the stats. Covington is under 43% from 2pt range and 37.5% from 3pt range.
I think you're leading to the stat of points per shot. Covington's around 1.25. That puts him above: Dwayne Wade, Ty Lawson, Tobias Harris, Kevin Martin, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jared Dudley, Andrew Wiggins, Andre Iguadala, Demar Derozen, Chris Middleton, Brandon Knight, Oladipo, John Wall and more.
1NBA: the Sixers are not tanking. They've brought in a Okafor, Stauskus and two solid NBA vets to help the young BIGS. They can get their stud guard in the draft next year simply by having 2 top 10 picks and moving forward.
Plus, they'll have ton of cap space to possibly attract a stud next year.

Honestly rather have Covington. Jennings contract blows.

There a lot more options in free agency next year. Almost everyone has cap space. I can see teams like the blazers making pushes to sign people with lilard locked up

don't want Jennings. little guy, injury prone, poor shooter. rather keep Covington. Covington is a solid role player.

Phillyrich, again a bad statistic out of context. You fail to account for the fact that Covington is a forward that primarily plays beyond the arc. you are comparing him to guards. All which drastically trump his under 2 assists per game. Additionally, his rebounding is sub par for a forward because he only shoots 3s. There are other aspects to a players game beyond his points per shot. Add onto that, didn't do the math but are you including free throws? Remember. 3 point shooter doesn't get may free throws and those count into points per shot. Sorry, Covington isn't a legit starter for most teams. He has an opportunity because Philly has no other options. Don't make him out to be more than he is.
