76ers / Suns

Obviously everyone is aware of markief morris demanding a trade, cutting himself off from management and the rest of his team, and his legal issues with an assault charge. This is one grumpy little Sun. Teams just aren't going to offer fair market value for him. Nobody wants a presence in the locker room that doesn't want to be there. T w/o obvious places he may be happy and turn it around are Detroit( where his brother is) and Philly( where his family is, and he has many close ties). This is a Hinkie special. Get potential high value at a low price. Morris would fit great in a Noel, Okafor, Morris rotation up front. He's a stretch 4 who has a pretty good outside game.
Sixers get: Morris
Sun's get : Landry and Richaun Holmes
Sun's get a vet Pf in Landry and a prospect Pf in Holmes with a promising upside.
I know people will disagree, but I just don't see Phoenix getting many offers at all due to the fact Morris won't want to be anywhere but with his bro or home( Philly).

I understand the Suns not getting market value but why not just trade to Detroit for Ilyasova and a prospect like Darron Hilliard

Jbaby. Holmes was taken one spot ahead of hilliard in the past draft. And I think Sun's would rather get young frontcourt prospects then backcourt guys. Illysova and Landry are a wash. But your deal to det and mine to philly are very similar in value.

As a Suns fan. Morris should be able to garner a better return than either of these deals. but. he has a ton o' baggage.PHX would need a PF in return for Kieff. one with a limited contract & that would lead to looking at the 4 in the next draft. Some here say, they should have looked this year (Portis for example). but they thouight they could straighten Morris out. they're wrong. Either deal might be right for the Suns. addition by subtraction.

I generally disagree with everything you and other Philly fans post because I see a ton of hypocracy in your posts. You guys always want tons of 1st rd draft picks or all-stars for your players, but want to offer peanuts for other teams' players. Landry won't even start on your team, & Holmes was drafted #37. Morris averaged 15 and 6 on a team that was competing for a playoff spot in the west. He would have averaged 20 for you guys last year and you're still trying to justify 2 bench players for him.

I haven't read that he won't play without his brother, I've read that he's mad at the Suns because they both took less $ so they could play together, then the team went and traded away his brother. Everybody is biased towards their own teams but come on.

Well, supposedly Morris has told people he will "demand' a trade from the Suns. wants nothing to do with PHX,etc, etc. all due to his brother (who was the real problem with them in PHX). Markieff is a decent player. but not one worht all of the problems he has mostly brought upon himself. again, moving him is addition by subtraction.

If Landry was healthy this trade wouldn't be that bad. But for the sixers Morris is locked up for 3-4 more years and would take minutes away from saric Noel embiid whoever plays the four and if you put him at the three it might be a stretch

If they were to do a deal I would think Landry and the okc first for Morris or
Landry Sampson or grant future second for Morris. I think Suns could get decent return

@newlakerdynasty:
I just looked back at every Sixer proposed trade on their tab. I generally do not agree with your comment about Philly proposals. The only trade I see that would offend you would be the Clarkson trades.

In general, since I've been reading this blog, Sixer trades can be broken down like this:
1. Taking a salary dump in return for 1st round pick.
Comment: Not unrealistic concept given past year.
2. Trying to get a vet PG buried on someone's roster.
Comment: Don't think Hinkie will do that but not a crazy idea. I'm frustrated it hasn't been done.
3. Being opportunistic and trying to get a "problem child" like Morris on the cheap
Comment: Hinkie hasn't yet done with Sixers but not an unrealistic thought. Although Hardin wasn't really a "problem," Houston trading for him was opportunistic. Maybe next year for this one.
4. Trying to get a recently drafted up and comer
Comment: That's a tough one. Everyone over values their young players. But he did get Stauskas.
5. Trying to get an all-star for nothing
Comment: Rarely if ever see that post.

As for the above trade, I like Morris but don't know if there are enough minutes for him here. What do you think? How do you think that would play out? Noel splitting time between PF and C?

09 Aug 2015 15:31:57
Morris is locked up for three four more years he wouldtake time from saric Noel and maybe if embiid plays the four

09 Aug 2015 15:33:01
You guys did get a recently drafted guy but right now he's not an up and comer. Shooting 36 percent from the field. I know it's still early but still saying

Phillyrich1: A rotation of Okafor, Noel, and Morris lines up nicely. If big jah needs a rest, put Noel at center with Morris. If Noel needs a rest, have Okafor at center and Morris at Pf. And Morris can help spread the floor better. As of now, I'm planning without Embiid in the rotation. And the Sixers envision saric as a point forward type, his best attribute is passing. And he won't be here for a while anyway. Morris actually has 4 years left at 8 million a year. He'll, back up pgs are getting close to that now with the cap increase around the corner. This may be the only guy in the entire NBA that would love to come play for the Sixers right now. And doesn't want to play for anyone else. Teams won't even offer anything for him of they already know he doesn't want to be there. Could be a surprising bit of good luck for the Sixers for a change.

Newlakerdynasty: could you please point ou the so called hypocrisy in my posts??? I would like to see that.

10 Aug 2015 16:17:58
How can you disagree with a politely asked question?? This is ridiculous. Makes Newlakerdynasty and theking look like children. Grow up please.
