Source: Hornets will consider dealing Chris Paul to Mavs in 3 team trade with Cleveland involving 10 players, draft picks and cash.

Nothing is officially confirmed and will not be until the Paul-Hornets meeting on Monday. According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, The Mavericks would likely receive G Chris Paul from New Orleans and G Daniel Gibson from Cleveland, The Hornets would receive Caron Butler, Beaubois draft picks and cash from Dallas, Antawn Jamison and Jamario Moon from Cleveland, and Cleveland would possibly get David West, James Posey from the Hornets and Alexis Ajinca and Deshawn Stevenson from Dallas.

The only problem with this trade is that Dallas would be giving up a lot for just 2 players though they would be getting an elite all-star PG in Paul. Other sources say They are likely to use their Mid-Level exception on a veteran swingman, such as free agents Rasual Butler or possibly Tracy McGrady.

The Dallas Mavericks are close and still need one more piece to their titleless and seasoned team: A SHOOTER. There is one guy still on the free agent market who made himself known as a shooter/scorer in both Orlando and Houston. Tracy McGrady. Whether they can somehow manage to get him at the Mid-Level Exception or even do a sign and trade with New York, they need to get it done. This would work and could be the answer to all of their previous post-season issues. T-Mac has fallen apart and become injury prone the last few seasons but everyone the Mavs go after is swept away by another team (J. O'Neal, Harrington, Joe Johnson?) This is their chance and they can't blow it. Either sign McGrady to a MLE or higher salary if they can afford it, or S-&-T Barea, Stevenson, Draft picks, Cash to Knicks. GET IT DONE!

Adam Morrison is about as unathletic as you can get. He makes easy shots look tough, he's slow and anyone who doesn't see him as a SCRUB, is well, they shouldn't be left unsupervised.

As for perimeter shooting, free throw percentage, or lack of it, a SRUB that can hit the occasional shot or 80% from the free throw line but is too slow and clumsy ever to get fouled is still a SRUB.

As a spurs fan if jefferson comes back i believe if they sign raja bell they could keep up with LA with the addition of splitter. Would raja Take the 1.9 remaining on the MLE, or will he go to the lakers which i have been hearing an awful lot too, if so, the lakers will win the trophy again next year, a team with kobe gasol and odom to score, then three world class defenders with bell, artest and kobe, plus gasol odom and bynum to shut down underneath, the heat couldnt beat that. I am the guy talking about the knicks and im a spurs fan, the spurs would win seven out of ten against the knicks definately if they had to, not just four out of seven, And i also brought up the around two million of cap, and the MLE, if miami wanted to they could sign a guy who would get them very close to the cap, then make the haslem deal official afterwards because you can go over the cap with internal players and then get the MLE. So i do know what im talking about. If not im sure there are still people remaining from last year miamis team who if they signed a couple and broke they still get the MLE. Dallas Mavericks sign Shaq, sign-and-trade Haywood to Miami for Jermaine O'Neal, sign-and-trade Erick Dampier's contract to Boston for Ray Allen. Work Matt Carroll into a trade somehow.

Why or Why Not?
The signing of Shaq would help the Mavs inside defense and help relieve Dirk's post-play some. However, the Mavs are the best free throw shooting team in the NBA, Shaq is arguably the worst free throw shooter, that would completely ruin that team stat. Also Mark Cuban is pretty much in love with Shaq, so bottom line, Shaq would be a 50/50 chance that the Mavs may have to take.

Jermaine O'Neal: Not likely to come here, but would be a great backup to Shaq, a little weird having two different O'Neal jerseys in the fan shop.

Ray Allen: Everyone knows Ray Allen is probably the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA, maybe second to Larry Legend. This could work for the Mavs because they would have two of the NBA's best shooters in their lineup in Allen and Nowitzki. It would be difficult considering the lineup they have currently: Kidd, Butler, Marion, Nowitzki, (Haywood, Dampier?) Of course there is the problem with the center position, but imagine the possibility of either Marion or Butler moving to the Sixth-man (sorry Jet) and the other moves to the 4 spot? The Celtics need a Center for next season with Perkins sidelined, and let's face it: Matt Carroll was the biggest bust ever.. The guy never misses in shoot around, but come gametime he can't hit a wide open 3, so he needs to be traded, in return for Dampier and Carroll, The Mavs would get Ray Allen and maybe Scalabrine or a solid back up Center. But this trade would not work unless they get a Center in the offseason (Shaq, Jermaine, Al Jefferson) or re-sign Haywood.

The more the Raptors wait for the ultimate sign and trade the lower the chances are that they will get anybody. They should step up to Bosh and ask him what team he wants and take the best offer they are given. Everybody in basketball knew Bosh wasn't coming back and he should have been trade at the deadline.

I'm a basketball fan. I enjoy watching competitive games without having to stack your team to win championships. I understand it's a business and all but the integrity of the league is fading. When The Celtics got "The Big 3, " they gutted their team and put together an inexpensive decent bench. The Lakers, I'm not a hater but, got Pau and gave up Kwame?? Ron Artest goes there for cheap just to stack that squad. Now with all this talk of the big 3 free agents playing together next season, your championship, if you win it, will taste bitter and not as sweet as if you build from what you have. The best things in life are worth waiting for. I have a few opinions

Ok, I have had just about enough of this simpleminded bull. The fact of the matter is that the reason all of these free agents made sure that they were eligible this year is due to the end of the CBA. That being said, they are obviously looking for a max deal. EVERY one of the them. There will be no wade, bosh&james combo anywhere. It will not happen.
That being said, and I am a knicks fan btw, chicago seems to have an advantage in signing wade, and by default his pet Bosh. This too will only occur if bosh gets a max deal. Period. Cleveland needs to make a preemptive trade to have any shot of retaining lebron. only a star coming in will remove those $$ from his eyes. The knicks only have a chance if they can convince lebron that they will get another star this year and next. That being said, I have NO Predictions. Please think, THEN post. Out..

The Mavs get a scorer and someone with actual height and ability at the 2. They also get rid of Carroll who is a cap slug. They still have the contract of damp to find another big man.

Ok. im ganna say what the Spurs offseason is ganna be 1st there ganna resign Jefferson after he opted out but to alot cheaper deal. and Parker won't be traded Splitter will come over to, so theres not going to be that many diffrent changes. but something that could happen and keep an eye out for is that the spurs could be a possible suitor for Melo. Also the knicks are someone to keep an eye out for to get Melo since they don't have a very good chance at getting Lebron.
