3 Team Deal.

OKC gets: Jeff Green and Courtney Lee
Grizz get: Joel Embiid, Anthony Morrow, Nik Stauskas
Philly gets: Dion Waiters, Steve Novak, Protected 1st (OKC)

Thunder go all in on this season. Rockets have shown to not be the same threat in the West we all predicted. Warriors look unstoppable, but Thunder could pose a threat if they peak at the right time. I think adding a 3 and D guy in Lee and reuniting Green with Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka could be great. He can be the 6th man and spark the bench while providing a true backup to KD.

Grizz have looked good this season. They have great defense and are built well. They pull this move to add a proven, great shooter in Morrow, a young shooter in Stauskus, and they get Embiid. They can bring him along slowly and learn under the tutelage of Gasol. This is a move for now and the next few years. Green and Lee are both expiring and they may not be able to keep them anyways. Getting Morrow with that contract along with two young guys with tons of potential is worth it.

Philly supposedly wants Waiters. Trading for him ensures he comes over, plus they get his bird rights before free agency. Losing Embiid may hurt, but that OKC first could be valuable if Durant walks, and with Saric coming over next year and a weak East, it may be time to start thinking about the present over the future.

Thats a false statement. Waiters supposedly wants Philly. He thinks they will offer the most money. He will come to them. Philly has no need to go after him. Least of all, trading embiid after already waiting 2 years.

Embiid has zero trade value.

Embiid needs to play first.

Embiid has trade value. He just isn't tradeable. Until he plays the sixers will keep him. If he's healthy he has tremendous value. When not, he has almost no value. It would be far wiser to just sit on him and pray.

Sixers will not trade embiid for this. Presently his trade value is at the absolute bottom, so why not wait to see if he lives up to even half his potential.

Embiid isn't valueless to PHI, who picked up his option for the 2016-17 season for $4.8 mil. In other words, they were willing to pay $4.6 this year and $4.8 mil next season to see what he may do.

However, there are other teams who not trade for him, because they have tighter constraints on salary, and they are risk-averse over the greater potential to be worth nothing but wasted money.

I call players like this "Powerball tickets. " Success or failure for an NBA team depends on getting lucky and finding these franchise players. Embiid's production will likely never be able to justify the salary, just like the money you spend on a PowerBall ticket costs more than your expected return. However, the slim chance you actually win justifies the fun of gambling for some.

Embid is a giant gamble. PHI can afford to take that gamble, and with fans there still interested, he's probably worth more to them than other teams, so unlikely to be included in a trade. However, I don't think you can say that he has "zero trade value. "

Terrible trade for philly. They are going to take the risk that embiid recovers. no reason not to.

Shrink, what are you talking about?

Sixers fans voice their opinions on here, that's it. The sixers have the second lowest home attendance rate in the entire league. Aka, they make far less than other organizations. What are you talking about with they can afford to wait because the fans still have interest? What you mean some sixer fans haven't given up on him and that sliver of hope is worth oodles? That's nonsense

Also, powerball tickets? We understand the concept. You never refer to them as powebrball tickets. How often do you talk about this specific group to have a nickname for them? What's great is you give the bs nickname and then proceeded to make up some rationale on how you came about this amazing nickname. Just calm your jets.

Question: I am a foreigner, but what is the common speech for nit-pickers or inch-pincher?

pIzza - i just wanted to address a couple of your misconceptions:

First, it is certainly untrue that since PHI has second lowest attendance, "aka they make far less than other organizations. " Gate receipts only represent a fraction can NBA team's revenues. Even if revenues were entirely based on ticket sales, some markets can charge three times as much for a ticket, so attendance alone would still not mean that "they make far less than other organizations. "

As for Embiid having more value in Philadephia, it is because both fans and front office have invested in him. People in Philadelphia still think about the guy, and hope that he can become a star. In other markets, he is more of an afterthought until he shows he can perform on the court. A deal at this point hardly helps another team from a marketing standpoint. The front office is invested in Embiid too. Not only have they sunk the money into the guy, but since he was their pick, he also carries some of their credibility. It is far harder for a front office to say, "I give up - I really screwed up picking that guy" than it is for them to say, "He's young and promising - just wait and you'll see I was right about the kid. Just wait! "

Let me add one more piece of information that could be interesting to the PHI fans.

While actual attendance is low for PHI in the arena, the area is the fourth biggest market in the United States. TV viewership (and the advertising revenue it generates) is a huge concern for the NBA, so much so that they actually have TV benchmarks written into the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This was specifically important to the Sixers last year, when they would have been eligible for revenue sharing, except for the fact that the CBA forbids it for markets that have access to over $2.5 mil TV households!

Here's the bottom line though. While the Sixers have one of the lower franchise values in the NBA ("only" $500 mil! ), they have the potential to be Top Ten, because of the city, the demographics, and the fans. It's possible that you see the front office willing to gamble, holding on to young players like Embid, because if they can find a couple superstars, the Sixers are poised to go from bums to kings.

9th lowest ticket prices. 2nd lowest attendence. = low revenue. But thanks for explaining that if they charge a ton more they can make more money, that definitely went over my head.

Also, you can over analyze your expertise on economics all you want. that's awesome, they have huge potential! How has that huge potential resulted in Miami? They can't give away tickets for free.

Philly is a big market, thanks for telling the people in philadelphia that, we weren't aware. Otherwise, again. low ticket prices, bottom ticket sales AND this is while in a huge market. all that equals a lack of interest.

I still think it's hysterical that you ranted about how you have a specific term for embiid and people such as him, and it's a powerball ticket. And then you decided it necessary to elaborate on the thinking behind this "commonly used Shrink nickname" Too funny man, seriously.

Drainer. answer. if speak no good, make insult not, look funny because. Get it Yoda?
