If the Pelicans land the first overall pick, could it be in their best interest to just hit the re-set button? How about this for a draft night trade:

Thunder get Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram

Pelicans get Derrick Favors, the rights to the Thunder's 2022 first round pick, OKC's unprotected first round picks in 2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029, the Rockets' top 4 protected first round picks in 2024 and 2026, and the Clippers' unprotected first round picks in 2024 and 2026

The Thunder give themselves an elite young big 3 and become a big man away from being championship contenders. The Pelicans create major cap space and get a whopping 9 first round picks to build around Chet/Paolo. NOLA becomes the new OKC in terms of having insane draft capital.

(Atlanta owns OKC's 2022 first, but it's lottery protected and becomes two second round picks if not conveyed. OKC can trade the rights to the pick after the draft, and can then trade their 2023 first without violating the Stepien rule. Also, 2029 picks become available to trade after the draft)

I don't think the Pelicans need more picks. They need proven talent to put around Ingram.

I believe it’d be a mixture of players and picks.

NBA16 I included a ridiculous amount of picks so the Thunder could hold on to their young talent. What do you think makes this fair? Adding Giddey? Dort?

Pels should get involved with GS and perhaps Atlanta. Trade a mix of young talent and picks.
