Brutal for Boston, White has as much or more value than Markannen, who some view as not worth his contract.

Markkanen is worth more than White very easily. I can’t imagine thinking Markkanen (averaging 31 and 6 on great shooting) isn’t worth his contract.

Maybe not 3 firsts more than White. But Boston’s firsts are not very valuable.

There are people who think Markannen doesn't have a lot of value at the money he's making and it sounds like you're purely looking at numbers. Putting up numbers for a bad team is nothing special. He needs to help a team win and has yet to do that. He may be considered a better player than White, though I'm not sure, but White is viewed as a much better contract and that makes all the difference in value during this era.

Also, the ESPN top 100 has Markannen at 43 and White at 26. That's not everything but it suggests that White has more value even if their contacts were identical, yet in reality Markannen makes significantly more.

I can argue that if you put Markannen instead of White on that Boston’s roster, they can be way better.

Way better? For when? He's never played more than 66 games in his whole career.
