Can people stop with “you traded 3 starters for 1”? Not all starters are built alike.

That said, it’s an overpay for McCollum. Maybe throw in Portland’s 2020 pick to Orlando.

As a Portland fan, this is one of the few McCollum trades I can get behind. Guaranteed vet presence and a shot at a high pick sounds great.

So are you arguing that McCollum is worth three starters. For a non-All-Star on a large contract, you are asking Orlando to give up an All-Star center, a versatile forward on a declining contract, and a solid two-way guard that was shooting efficiently from three.

Not all starters are the same, I would agree. But is McCollum going to single-handedly carry a team to the playoffs? Because Orlando is there (albeit barely) with the three players they have. This deal saves them little money, and would make them worse? Are they contending for a title— no. But tearing it down to build around a nearly 30 year old scorer isn’t the answer either.

Bmiller- Vuc and Gordon are solid and would start on most teams. Check is solid but not worth both and I haven’t mention fournier.

Vuc is good really good, like I said, Orlando is overpaying

But Fournier and Gordon are nice role players. Neither is more than a 4th or 5th option on a contender. If you offered me the Gordon and Fournier for McCollum swap, I’d laugh.

But if Portland includes their first, and maybe Trent, it’s pretty close.
