With the Kings resigning Monk, they are currently projected to be over the luxury tax by around $1 mil which will diminish the amount they receive for their MLE. So trading down or away pick #13 can resolve this issue.
Does trading down with a team with salary cap space make sense?
Barnes (82 games last 2 seasons) + #13 to Orlando for #18? Or to Philly for #16
Perhaps even trading down for both Knicks picks and using one to salary dump Barnes to say Utah.
Once Barnes is off the books, then the Kings could offer their Full MLE ($12.8 mil) to let's say Tobias Harris
This would essentially be swapping Barnes for Harris, getting a rookie in the late teens/ early twenties, and staying below the luxury tax line at the start of the season. Seems doable IMO.

It makes sense but it doesn't raise their ceiling unless Murray takes a big step. Do they want to be a nice team or a contender?

@Nightcap. Pretty sure no one available is going to make the Kings appear as a title contender. Maybe PG13? We are going for consistency in making playoffs and removing some of the stain of Sacramento being a sh! t organization.

Does a Harrison Barnes for Jonathan Isaac trade make any sense for both teams? Sac gets a PF playable next to Sabonis and Orl gets a veteran known for his leadership.

Isaac was going to be a key member for the Magic before he got hurt (several times) . They decided to keep him and pay him even though he didn't play for 3 years or so. Since then, he was replaced by Banchero and Franz, but he is still a key contributor off the bench. Orlando has a good young team that is starting to come together. No need to bring in anyone in a "mentor" role.

Opponents are 7/ 43 (16.3%! ) against Keegan in ISO. His vast improvement in on-ball defense, screen navigation, & physicality have been noteworthy.

Was reading a post by Marc Stein stating that the Houston Rockets were interested in Harrison Barnes. I would love to walk away with Jabari Smith Jr, but this probably makes more sense

Statistically, I think that Wiggins is actually better than Barnes.

The 7-footer from Finland (Lauri Markkanen) could cost "five-ish [first-round picks] and/ or players of comparable value, " per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer. That's right in line with what the Jazz received for Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert a couple summers ago.
Well, the Kings are not paying that price tag.

The Sacramento Kings are having such a weird start to their season. They are currently the 6th seed in the West but their splits against teams ahead of them in the standings vs teams below them in the standing is what is so weird.
Against the 5 teams ahead of them (Minn, OKC, Den, Lakers & Dallas), the Kings are 6-0. Teams behind them, the Kings are 5-8 with 7 of those losses against just 3 teams (GS, Houston, & NO) .

This is a crazy season already for Sacramento. Currently 10-6 but has only lost to 3 different teams twice. GSW, Rockets (both on the road without Fox) and Pelicans (both on the road without Murray) .

I doubt the "starting spot" was a part of the signing as Monk's touches drastically diminish when he is on the court with Fox, Sabonis and Murray. Monks's stats will take a hit as the starting SG.
