Might not be blow er up time but definitely need to replace the bromance all dribble no ball movement offence with some youthful potential in raptor land.

Trade 1
Raptors send Freddie, Chris and Juancho to NOP for Devonte, Jaxon, Dyson and Tre along with the NOP 2023 FRP with LAL swap

Trade 2
Raptors get Keegan Murray and 3 FRP from Kings, Shaedon Sharpe from Blazers and Patrick Beverly (waive) and 2027 FRP from LAL

LAL get Josh Hart and release of 2023 FRP swap

Blazers get Harrison Barnes and Davion Mitchel

Kings get Pascal and Malachi

Bash away boys!!

Noa way from Pels. That's too much for Fred.

2.) 07 Jan 2023 12:44:35
Kings don't have 3 firsts available to trade and I doubt tha they would do it if they did have them available.

This guy's serously believes Siakam is worth Keegan Murray, Harrison Barnes, Davion Mitchell & 3 firsts? LOL!

3.) 07 Jan 2023 13:58:10
Both too good for Raps.

4.) 07 Jan 2023 15:09:51
first you say it's not time to blow it up, then you trade 5 players, including your 2 best, away. that's what you do when you blow it up. not going to happen. fred may get traded, pascal may get traded, but they're not both going. and certainly not if someone expects to get pascal for less than the price paid for donovan mitchell. siakam is a 2 time all nba player. the cost will only begin with 3 first rounders.

5.) 07 Jan 2023 19:12:19
If the price starts at 3 firsts, then Siakim is not going anywhere by the trade deadline. Just look at the teams that have the 3 firsts and "valueless" matching salary. Most are in rebuild/ tanks. The others are going have problems matching salary.

6.) 07 Jan 2023 21:29:02
Man that’s a very quick nope from Pels. FVV seems to get overrated massively on these threads.

7.) 07 Jan 2023 22:25:53
Fvv brunson and poetel all dramatically overrated by the know nothing stat nerds.

8.) 08 Jan 2023 17:03:45
@Fredman - that's the point. Raptors do not want to trade Siakam, so they will only do it if they get a ridiculously great offer. everything i'm reading says every team is watching for what the raptors will do. and then say Masai is asking too much. nobody is saying Ujiri is offering these guys in trades. it's all other teams shopping, so the price will be high on anybody Toronto is happy to keep. i'd say the only players they would want to trade would be Trent, maybe Boucher and Flynn. several others that they'd be okay using as salary ballast. but the core 4 and Achiuwa are going to cost more than anyone thinks they should get.

Raptors trade Gary Trent to OKC for Lu Dort and their 2023 2RP

Raptors get some future cap relief, great perimeter/point of attach defence, more touches for OG and a tangible draft asset.

OKC gets some much needed high end shooting without compromising defence

Warburs

1.) 25 Aug 2022 15:32:15
Love Dort and he would be a good fit with the Raptors, but I think Toronto is going to need Trent's scoring. Not sure how Trent would fit in to OKC's timeline either. more likely he'd opt out next summer and sign elsewhere.

2.) 25 Aug 2022 16:54:24
Not sure Trent, Jr & SGA work well together.

3.) 27 Aug 2022 00:43:48
hard to imagine a young elite shooter not pairing well with one of the best young playmakers/ passers in the nba. does fredman have inside info about incompatible horoscopes? Someone enlighten us (pisces play well with leos)

Toronto off season

Draft day
Raptors send
Gary Trent, Malachi Flynn and Justin Champ
to Kings for
Jeremy Lamb (don't renew), Richaun Holmes (prolly suspended from nba while court plays out), #7 pick (assuming no change at lottery) and #37 pick

Draft Mathurin, Houstan and Nembhard (may need 2 way contract here)

Post draft day trade Holmes along with lottery protected 2023 1st to Pacers for Myles Turner OR to Magic for Bamba (sign and trade, would need high second back from the pin stripes)

Free Agency sign
Thad Young OR Chris Boucher to 2 years $12mm, wish the other well
Victor Oladipo to 1 year show me $5-7mm
Keep either Bonga OR Brooks, sign other to two way if possible or wish them well
Shake Yuta's hand, thank him for his endless energy over past two years and wish him well

Warburs

1.) 25 Apr 2022 01:09:25
What is Toronto trading that’s worth anywhere near the #7 pick?

2.) 25 Apr 2022 01:37:21
I started laughing after the first paragraph.

3.) 25 Apr 2022 13:45:31
Jeremy Lamb is a free agent and can't be traded like this.

Draft day move for Sac, Tor, Char and Por

Sac gets Gary T, Svi M and Justin Champ

Char get Rashon Holmes

Por get Kelly Oubre

Tor get Jeremy Lamb and Joe Ingles, waive both expiring contracts. Plus Sac 1RP (Mathurin), Sac 2RP (Edey to a two way) and Por 1RP (Sharpe) to go with the Det 2RP (Houstan) acquired from Spurs. Also pick up Nembhard as an UDFA on a two way.
Let the Raptor system developed some young homeland talent while present coaching looking after National team efforts.
Move Freddie to more off ball roll with way less dribble but lotsa shot. Trust Scottie as facilitator as its why we drafted him anyways. Stay the course on long and strong system til Edey ready for "match up" use. Extend Armoni if he brings it the rest of the way home by next training camp.

Still impossible and terrible.

2.) 30 Mar 2022 19:19:55
I wouldn't give Trent, a proven scorer + defender, for those unproven guys.

3.) 30 Mar 2022 21:40:25
Didn't you just post this?

And it's still terrible.

4.) 30 Mar 2022 22:23:38
You're right, Darry. But it's also true that 2 lottery picks and a second are way more than that package is worth. And I think that the privately held corporations that own the Raptors conglomerate are much more interested in NBA Championships than being the developmental farm system for the national team. So it really doesn't work for anybody.

5.) 31 Mar 2022 01:24:35
I get the love for Trent, but saying no to two top 10 picks for him seems like an incredibly short sighted decision.

Um, you can't trade contracts that expire.

And who is Justin Champ?

2.) 30 Mar 2022 01:00:05
Dude, Lamb and Ingles are expiring contracts. You can not trade them after the trade deadline.

Plus Kings are not tossing in a lottery pick for that.

3.) 30 Mar 2022 01:53:44
Blazers give up a lottery pick for Holmes?!? Really?

Obviously the contract stuff makes this impossible. By the value is extra bad too.

Could the raptors put together an acceptable package for SGA? What would it look like?

Warburs

1.) 10 Aug 2022 16:59:59
I'm not sure there's a trade to be made here TBH.

To make salaries work they would have to send Siakam straight up, or 2 of FVV, GTJ, OG (with another small contract coming back with SGA), or FVV and a bunch of smaller filler.

Siakam is only getting moved in a package for a top ten superstar, if at all.

I'm not sure they would be interested in FVV and filler.

GTJ and OG are probably the best fits for the Thunder (age, contracts, talent/ skill)

There's a lot to factor in outside of the stat sheet. SGA has put up good numbers on some bad teams, has played 70/ 35/ 56 games over the last few seasons, and his shooting numbers took a pretty big dip last year. Also, no all star or all nba teams. He ranked 11th in all star voting for guards last year.

GTJ and OG haven't seen many more games over the same span, their shooting numbers have been better, but also no all star or all nba teams. Probably not even close tbh.

SGA doesn't seem to fit the mould of what the Raptors are trying to do, so giving up two really good defenders and shooters for a PG when they've already got Fred doesn't seem like their style. I think they're more likely to slot Barnes into more PG minutes than trade for one.

2.) 10 Aug 2022 18:53:56
GTJ & OG + picks.

3.) 10 Aug 2022 20:16:27
I think OKC would only be interested in Barnes.

15 Jan 2022 01:18:32
How much more of this "over dribble, assistless hero ball" are us Raptor fans expected to endure!! Damn, is tuff to watch.

I hear that a lot in Boston as well, didn't realize it was going on in Toronto.

Would there be any way to spin value both to the Cavs and the Raptors in some form of Rubio for Dragic swap?
Both on expiring deals of similar $
Rubio out at least a year to injury
Raps and Dragic "sleeping in different beds"
Cavs could use Dragic in similar fashion as Rubio (low acquiring cost, short term veteran leadership for young aspiring playoff team)

Thoughts?

Warburs

1.) 31 Dec 2021 11:25:45
I think Cavs would have to add an asset like one of the 2022 seconds from Houston or San Antonio.

2.) 31 Dec 2021 19:32:31
I'd take Rubio for Dragic straight up at this point.

3.) 02 Jan 2022 23:38:56
I agree with Darry, because an injured Rubio would save 1.6M on the cap which would give Toronto room to sign DJ Wilson for the rest of the season contract into the empty roster spot they're holding. Wilson looked like a real nice fit for Toronto's development environment,

So does Goran have to be “released” from the new roster in order to join the heat or can he be traded?

Benefits of this trade
Raps
Bring positive end to Dragic foobar
Create cap space to convert Champagne contract
Test drive young big before off season RFA
Add reasonable priced shooter on short term contract
First round pick to Magic should in the 14-18 range
Second round pick to Raps should land in 31-33 range
Looking like Canadian born Caleb Houston’s fit with
Michigan is conducive to him being stolen in that draft
range by the way!

Magic
Get two young players struggling to get minutes on a notoriously short Raptor rotation
Receive a first round pick for assets few others would consider matching on
With 2022 draft class front end loaded with bigs and shooters Magic likely to replace with own pick.
